Article 10: Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right includes freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information. It also covers freedom of the press.
Article 10 of the Convention protects freedom of expression, one of the key foundation stones of a democratic society. The media require special protection as they play a vital role in upholding freedom of expression.
The right to level criticism, the right to make hypotheses and value judgements and the right to hold opinions are some of the rights protected by this article.
